This is the bit I just don't get. I thought the whole thing was to get a job, so it's really just some elaborate recruitment process. You can't fire someone if they're not employed. Therefore "We thank you for your interest in our company. Regrettably, however, you have not been successful on this occasion. We wish you all the luck in your search." would be more appropriate.

The contestants are not 'job' candidates, but vying for an investment of a 1/4 mil.
